so i had to go to the walk in clinic the other day. most of my time spent there was particularly unpleasant, though i guess it is a clinic, after all. i think it just seemed extra bad because mine was just a follow up appointment so i wasn't actually sick. as a result, i could focus all of my energy and attention on trying to guess why everyone else was there.

for instance, there was this one guy, late twenties, naturally built for athleticism, over-tanned, -plucked, -groomed, in a pretty expensive suit. he stared at the floor until he was called and walked slowly when it was his turn. when he left i noticed he was walking slightly bow-legged and carried only a prescription slip. naturally i assume it is some uncomfortable STI.

there was a whole box of chlamydia sampling swabs on the counter of the room i was put in. there had to be like 50 there, ready to be used. i couldn't tell by it's placement on the counter or the swabs sticking out if one had been recently removed. of course i tried to tell.

as i was waiting in the second, smaller waiting room i took to watching a man in a particularly offensive khaki/shoes combo. i remembered seeing him asleep in the first waiting room. he had a sore on his face but i don't think that was why he was there. i say this because he had to produce a urine sample. why do i know this? well, i almost ran into him in the hallway, cup in hand. it wasn't empty. the ick heard round the world. anyway, after he... did all he had to do and was on his way out, he decided to try and weigh himself. problem was, it was one of those big hospital scales with the little sliding weights. he struggled with it for a while before the straight faced, tight lipped blonde nurse walked by, stopped, turn around and, in the driest tone possible asked "do you know what you're doing?" he didn't so she showed him while he awkwardly tried to, i guess, flirt with her. and i'm thinking dude, you just handed her a cup of your PEE two minutes ago.

some people.

today is going swell though! it's all sunshine and ease, like a tv advert for sugar-free, calorie-free soda.
